Abstract :
This paper describes a reduced complexity deblocking filter for H.264/AVC video. The proposed method modifies the selection criterion for using strong and normal filter of H.264/AVC deblocking filter. Thresholds have been set for categorization of different CIF video sequences into low, moderate, and high motion sequences using absolute sum of motion vectors. Simulation results of various low to moderate activity CIF sequences show significant reduction in computational complexity without any visible change in perceptual quality in comparison to H.264/AVC deblocking filter.
