Abstract :
Summary form only given. The technology of surface texturing on glass and ceramic disks demands a very high degree of power stability from CO/sub 2/ lasers. It is our understanding that the stability of the energy density absorbed by the surface (EDAS), not just the power, is the key in achieving uniform bump heights. There are two other parameters of the laser beam besides power that can influence EDAS. They are laser wavelength and transverse laser mode, or spatial distribution.
