Abstract :
This paper introduces a software platform that supports services with flexible multimodal user interfaces (UI). The platform is based on Java technology for the service logic and XML-based description languages such as SVG and VoiceXML for UI definition. Firstly, this paper describes the motivation for specifying a flexible and multimodal UI. Secondly it presents the respective architecture and in particular the voice UI implementation. Finally, an automatic converter from graphical user dialogues into voice-based dialogues and vice versa is described.
