  • Abstract
Summary form only given. We present new results on a high average power (kHz), high peak power (0.27 TW) laser system based on Ti:sapphire. We have recently demonstrated pulses as short as 16.5 fs at a fraction of a TW and characterized these pulses using second-harmonic frequency optical gating (SHG-FROG). Our work represents the highest-average power, sub-20-fs laser system developed to date. Our laser design uses two multipass ring amplifiers.
