Abstract :
Magnetization characteristics of electrical machines play a key role for its design and operational performance. Such curves are useful to determine the saturation in the magnetic circuit of the machines in any operating mode i.e motoring or generating. Therefore accurate modeling of such characteristics is essential to determine the performance of electrical machines in steady state and transient conditions. In this paper, the magnetization characteristics of induction machine have been obtained with simulation using linear, polynomial, and exponential techniques. Magnetization characteristics of the induction machine have also been obtained experimentally and the results obtained have been compared with three techniques. The curvefit tool in MATLAB has been employed to find the higher order model with results quite close to the experimental results obtained on the test machines.
