Abstract
We carefully examine a proposed congestion control algorithm for streaming layered multimedia over wired/wireless channels in order to evaluate the stability, convergence, fairness, and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, which uses a small portion of the packet header to convey control signals along with the reserved packet length (RPL) to adapt to the staircase-like bandwidth of streaming layered multimedia. The simulations show promising results in various channel environments and exhibit very low packet delay deviation, which is very suitable for streaming applications.
