Abstract :
Due to advancement in the field of IT communication and interoperable standards, performance of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) has been improved. As a result of this, utilities are trying to integrate the metering infrastructure across different systems for exchanging the information which helps in making a grid smarter. Integration of various metering infrastructures with heterogeneous system is not an easy task because lot of issues related to interoperability, bandwidth and security etc. are involved. This paper is addressing the integration and security issues associated with AMI followed by technical recommendations which can help the solution providers and utilities in integrating the metering infrastructures more efficiently.
