Abstract :
Wind energy, because of its advantages like free availability, abundant amount, inexhaustibility and non-polluting nature is now becoming the focus of research and development. Wind energy generation doesn´t cost much with respect to nuclear, coal and gas. It is modular and can be quickly installed. It may provide bulk power equivalent to conventional sources. This paper discusses interconnection issues of PMSG based WECS to the grid as per prevailing grid standards during normal and abnormal conditions. Simulation in MATLAB Simulink is done to demonstrate the fault ride-through topology for PMSG.
