Abstract :
Summary form only given. In this contribution, I describe an approach that I recently developed for calculating the actual distribution function of timimg jitter, and I apply this approach to calculating the actual distribution function of the timing jitter of solitons in a filtered soliton communication line. I note that the nonGaussian tails predicted by this theory have recently been observed in direct simulations.
