Abstract
Summary form only given. We report the realization of a wavelength shifter based on cascaded second-order processes in the organic molecular crystal N-(4-nitrophenyl)-L-prolinol (NPP). In our experiment, a pump pulse p at frequency w/sub p/ and a signal pulse s at w/sub t/ interact to generate the frequency-shifted signal f. Wavelength shifting through cascading takes place through the generation of the second harmonic (SH) of p followed by difference frequency generation of SH with s.
