Abstract :
Based on the piezoelectric deformation effect (namely, tensile and compressive effect, torsional effect) of the quartz disc, a new type of drilling dynamometer is designed in this paper. The axial force measuring cell is made of two X0deg-cut quartz discs that are mechanically in series and electricity in parallel. The torque measuring cell consists of only three Y0deg-Cut discs and four semicircle electrodes. The four electrodes are reciprocally connected to constitute a single measuring electrode, which can not only eliminate the insulate device, but also double the charge sensitivity. The static calibrations results show that both the linearity and repeatability of thrust and toque are less than 1%, and the crosstalks are also less than 5%, which has full reached the dynamometer standard stipulated by CIRP-STCC.
