Abstract
Traditional smoothing depth DIBR system generates geometric distortion in synthesis virtual view. In this paper, an edge-oriented hole filling algorithm for the DIBR is proposed. The traditional smoothing depth approach is discarded, while hole filling is adapted instead. For natural and smooth hole filling, the edge information around the hole is used in the proposed method. The non-smoothing depth map reduce geometric distortion while the proposed hole filling method increases hole filling accuracy. Experimental results show that proposed method has better synthesis virtual view quality.
