Abstract
The paper presents an analog to digital converter (ADC) targeted for converting current-mode discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients to digital bits. The conversion is performed in parallel and the operation is continuous in time. Adaptive quantization is included in the converter to fulfil the demands of several video compression standards. The design has relatively low power consumption and the maximum conversion accuracy is 7 1/2 bits.
