Abstract
This paper is devoted to validation of hybrid-type power system simulators from the viewpoint of a dynamical system. Recently the authors have developed a hybrid-type simulator for the analysis of electric power networks. In the simulator, synchronous generators are modeled via DSP modules in personal computers, while AC transmission lines consist of analog reactors. The digital and analog elements are connected through A/D and D/A converters. The developed simulator has some advantages of the experimental study of power system dynamics. In this paper we evaluate the performance of the simulator based on transient stability analysis of single generator-infinite bus system. The obtained result herein shows the possibility of validating the performance analytically.
