Abstract :
Optimal joint rate and power allocations of a multimedia CDMA system are presented in a multicell network. The optimal data rate and power allocations are for both links (uplink and downlink) while assuring each user´s QoS requirements, i.e., data rate requirement and application´s BER constraint. The purpose of the resource allocation is to minimize the total transmission power for both link directions; this gives rise to maximum capacity since the capacity of a CDMA system is interference-limited. We show, through strict theoretical deduction, that the proposed allocation provides the optimal joint data rate and power allocation for both the uplink and the downlink in multicell multimedia CDMA systems.
