Abstract
The application of the spectral subtraction method to image restoration is investigated. Comparison of the performance of the spectral subtraction method with that of the Wiener filter, in an ideal case, shows that the spectral subtraction method provides an improvement. In order to improve further the performance of the spectral subtraction method, an iterative algorithm is utilized with a frequency-division based noise estimation technique.
