Abstract
Efficiency and fidelity is of key importance to audio power amplifiers. A new configuration of power amplifier was proposed to improve both of them. By combining a linear amplifier with a nonlinear one in parallel, it features high efficiency and low distortion. Simulation shows that at the output power of 8.5W its efficiency could be up to 83%, while its THD (total harmonic distortion) is as low as 0.14%.
