Abstract :
The assessment of winding deformation during a short circuit test on a transformer has traditionally been treated as a hard computing problem. Recent developments using frequency response analysis have shown improved sensitivity for detection. The method can be further refined to work on line by concurrent excitation with a high frequency source. Soft computing techniques are used to identify the type of excitation that maximizes the SNR of the measurement and to make it adaptive.
