  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Laser systems for use in differential absorption lidar (DIAL) can benefit from CO/sub 2/ laser acoustooptical tuning. A pair of acousto optical devices (AODs) are inserted into the laser cavity. Two devices are needed to cancel the frequency shift introduced by each deflector, which would otherwise rapidly shift the light in the cavity out of resonance with the laser line.
