Abstract :
Summary form only given. Crystalline 4-aminobenzophenone (ABP) is one of the best nonlinear optical materials because of its short cut-off wavelength and high optical damage threshold. It can also be phase-matched to output SHG blue light with a high d/sub eff/ of 50.3 p/mv at the fundamental wavelength of 870 nm. Due to the advantages of organic optical waveguides over bulk crystals in integrated optics applications, we have been fabricating and characterizing ABP crystalline thin films. The growth methods used include vapor deposition, melt growth, and solution growth.
