Abstract :
Summary form only given. The optical beam deflection technique has been applied to the optothermal characterization of solids. The technique is nondestructive and contactless, giving the opportunity to work in hostile environments. It has been proved to be very sensitive to small temperature rises (10/sup -3/) and it is applicable to a wide set of samples with different geometries.
