Abstract
Summary form only given. In summary, we experimentally verify cascadable operation of two low-birefringence nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) logic gates pumped by an EDFL. We achieve a contrast ratio of 10.7:1 in the cascaded operation. The switching energy is 17 pJ, and the timing window is 2.7 pulse widths. We will also present simulation results that confirm and extend our experiments. This is an important first step toward cascading gates for header processing applications.
