Abstract :
Summary form only given. Optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) of BaB/sub 2/O/sub 4/ or KTiOPO/sub 4/ pumped by intense ns laser pulses are powerful sources of coherent, continuously tunable radiation. Due to their wide tuning range, high energies (100-200 mJ), high efficiencies (30-50%), and their solid-state character OPOs have long been recognized as potential light sources for atmospheric remote sensing.
