Abstract :
Summary form only given. The optical soliton pulse appears to have many desirable properties and has been proposed as an information carrier in high-bit-rate and long-distance optical communication systems. The dispersion shifted fiber used in soliton systems, while allowing high-bit-rate channels to be transmitted over long distance, enhances the efficiency of generation of four-wave mixing (FWM) waves by reducing the phase mismatch naturally provided by the fiber dispersion. So it is necessary to investigate the influence of FWM in long-haul soliton wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) systems.
