Abstract :
The authors describe an automatic cable checker, a device that automatically determines the wiring of two-connector cables that might be used for serial or parallel computer use. The device checks the wiring diagram of common cables including those with DB25 (Socket(S) and Plug(P)), DB15(S and P), DB9(S and P), and RJ11 connectors. The checker architecture is described in detail, and its strengths and weakness are discussed
