Abstract
An algorithm is developed to study the concept of fault diagnosis for a system which has initially been designed for fault diagnosis without repair using an extended PMC (Preparata, Metze, Chien) model. The concept of artificial intelligence is applied to the fault analysis. The connection assignments of the PMC model are modified. The modified connection assignment of each unit starts the process of additional fault diagnosis in a stepwise manner and the process will stop when necessary and sufficient conditions for fault diagnosis are violated. For the process of stepwise fault analysis, the method of artificial intelligence based on the complete set of axioms is used
