Abstract :
Summary form only given. It can be shown that the time- and frequency-resolved fluorescence from an excited diatomic molecule is allied closely to a representation of the state that lies somewhere between the Wigner and Husimi distributions. We have developed a method; that allows reconstruction of the representation using techniques from computer-assisted tomography, and have measured the distributions for highly localized vibrational states excited by ultrashort laser pulses in diatomic sodium.
