Abstract
A cold-cathode electron gun was used to produce the ionization for a CO2 laser. Gain coefficients in excess of 5% cm-1were obtained at 5 and 7 atm. Output energy densities of about 60 joules liter-1atm-1were obtained at 1 and 2 atm from an 8-liter oscillator.
