Abstract :
Summary form only given. Recently it has been shown how a photonic band gap prohibiting the propagation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) affects the emission properties of dye molecules placed on a silver grating. We extend this idea to show how the dye absorption characteristics may be affected in a similar manner.
