Abstract
Issues such as the delay associated with the length of the spoke, network partial performance due to the reduced redundancy introduced by the spoke, and the network throughput with stations having various message lengths and operating under the slotted ring protocol are addressed. The results show that there is no significant change in the throughput of the spoked ring when compared to the regular slotted ring while the average delay differs by 3L /4N , where L is the length of the ring and N is the number of stations on the ring. The nature of the spoke connection (K -connected) introduces minimal effect on the overall delay or throughput when the number of stations on the ring is large
