  • Abstract
Research was conducted on the ramifications of image transfer and manipulation using an MMS (Manufacturing Message Specification) implementation on a well-defined MAP network. The distribution of captured images over the MAP 3.0 (802.4) network is addressed. Two distinct methods were used; file transfer and domain downloading. In addition to static images, real-time image capture was explored in anticipation of the expanding applications of machine vision in manufacturing. Of the two methods, file transfer offers the more flexible solution. In order to upload a domain correctly, the client must know exactly how the data are represented on the server. In a file transfer, however, any MMS program with file transfer capabilities can obtain the data
