Abstract
Summary form only given. The effects of broadening, screening, and phase space filling (PSF) of excitons in semiconductor quantum wells (QWs) are important in the measurement of optical nonlinearities and monitoring carrier dynamics and for a number of device applications. We report on the relative magnitudes of these three effects for different quantum well widths using the spin dependence of PSF and the carrier density dependencies of these contributions in time-resolved transmission measurements.
