Abstract
The effect of median filtering on range images was investigated experimentally. Median filtering was utilized to remove noise from the range images. First- and second-order derivatives were utilized to locate the similarities between the processed and the original images. Range depth information was converted into spatial coordinates, and a set of coefficients which describe three-dimensional objects was generated using an existing algorithm. Range images of spheres and cylinders were used for experimental purposes
