Abstract :
The authors address the need for a page previewing capability in support of an IBM mainframe page composition product named SCRIPT or General Markup Language (GML). Ideas on how to utilize a standard PC to emulate an IBM 3812 remote printer are presented. A description is given of a working model of an exact page previewer for GML processed documents, along with a description of a real-time piece of software that permits usage of the standard IBM XEDIT editor and dynamically previews documents prior to sending them to a remote printer
