Abstract :
The paper describes a part of our continuing effort toward upgrading the state-of-the-art in high-power broad-band traveling wave tubes (TWTs). The unique advantage of helix-type TWTs over other types of TWTs is their wider bandwidth. However, helix-type TWTs of conventional designs are rather limited in some of other tube characteristics such as efficiency, output power and power handling capability.
