  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Two-photon absorption in solids is well known and an extensively characterized nonlinear optical process. Higher order multi-photon absorption has received comparatively little study because most materials are damaged before entering this regime. In a series of experiments using 1 W ps CO/sub 2/ laser pulses, we identified conditions for three- and four-photon absorption in samples of bulk InAs.
