  • Abstract
Summary form only given. We report femtosecond spectroscopy of octopus rhodopsin over very wide spectral region of 400-1000 nm, which made it possible to determine the line constant of cis-trans isomerization to be about 400 fs. The first intermediate prime-rhodopsin was converted to bathorhodopsin with a time constant of 10-20 ps along with a blue shift of about 10 nm. We found a new absorption from the excited state and two different stimulated emissions.
