Abstract :
A novel cascade solar cell using an etched groove and metallization interconnect scheme is described. This eliminates the requirement for growing a shorting junction in an already complex epitaxial structure. Device fabrication and performance are described. Detailed computer models show this device will have efficiency comparable to a cell with a tunnel junction interconnect.
