Abstract :
MIL-STD-461 EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) requirements and test limits, and companion MIL-STD-462 test techniques, are imposed widely at the unit level to ensure system operational compatibility. An analytical approach is presented for tailoring MIL-STD-461 RE02 electric field radiated emission limits dictated by system performance requirements, based on emissions entering receiving antennas. Tailoring RE02 limits is based on worst-case simplifying assumptions, system performance requirements, and a 6-dB EMI (electromagnetic interference) design margin stated in MIL-E-6051
