Abstract :
A 30 GHz, 40 W, helix traveling-wave tube (TWT) has been developed for use in small capacity satellite earth stations. The helix circuit and the electron beam are computer optimized for RF performance while achieving thermal stability. The TWT provides 40 W, CW output power over the 27.5 to 29.5 GHz frequency band. The TWT employs periodic permanent magnet (PPM) focusing designed to be light-weight and compact. Furthermore, conduction cooling is adopted.
