Transverse-mode stabilized GaAlAs laser with an embedded confining layer on optical guide by MOCVD

A transverse-mode stabilized GaAlAs laser with an embedded confining layer on optical guide (ECO) has been developed by MOCVD technique. The ECO laser is characterized by stable fundamental transverse mode oscillation with a small beam astigmatism, low feedback-induced power fluctuation and highly reliable operation. These features are very attractive, especially for optical disc application.
