Abstract
A new
isolation coupler based upon a sensitive magnetometer is described. The circuit is functionally similar to an opto-coupler in that a signal can be transferred to a dc-isolated circuit. In contrast to the opto-coupler, however, both transmitter and receiver for the magneto-coupler are built using a linear bipolar IC process. A fully integrated sense amplifier has been fabricated with two carrier-domain magnetometer sensors to produce a signal coupler having 250 kHz bandwidth.
