Abstract
The design of a 30 MW peak power, X-band gyroklystron is presented. Emphasis is placed on the modulator, electron gun, and microwave circuit technology. An improved circuit code that uses realistic cold cavity field profiles is discussed. A conversion efficiency of ∼ 37% from the 500 kV 160 A beam to the TE01 omode with a gain of ∼ 57 dB is predicted.
