Abstract :
A 250 Watt Millitron has been developed for commercial satellite communications ground terminals. The tube utilizes a confined flow PPM beam system which allows the tube to be operated at variable power levels by varying the beam current. The beam system can be operated over a voltage range from 22 to 25 KV and beam currents up to .250 amps with 99% beam transmission. The tube is designed with two circuit sections, using a staggered ladder configuration. Data for a variety of operating conditions will be presented. Output powers up to 350 Watts were achieved. Voltage tuning of 700 Volts changed the band of operation from 27.5-29 to 28.5-30 GHz.
