Abstract
A technique is proposed which allows accurate discrimination between two FSK keying tones. The technique is used to develop a digital discriminator for the 1200 baud signal generated by CCITT V23 type modems. Simulation of the proposed system has shown that under ideal conditions, the isochronous distortion observed at the output of this system can be reduced to less than 1%. Further tests which have been carried out on this discriminator circuit show that it is relatively robust and retains its excellent performance in more practical implementations.<>
