Abstract :
Coefficient assignment of the characteristic polynomial corresponding to a generalised linear system using state feedback laws is discussed. The equivalence of a method using Sylvester´s equation to the methods of Ackermann and Bass-Gura is derived. The single-input case follows directly from the nonpolynomial case, but for multi-input it is demonstrated that a more stringent condition on the controllability matrix is required.
