Abstract :
A variational method is used for the analysis of nonsymmetrical broadside-coupled microstrips in a multilayered medium of arbitrary anisotropy. In the general case two propagating modes, namely c and ¿, can be defined, which coincides with the usual even and odd modes when the structure has, at least, inversion symmetry. The study includes lateral and vertical shifting of the strips as well as unequal strip-widths.
