Abstract
High-power semiconductor devices have poor overload capacity and require the protection of fast-acting semiconductor fuselinks. The methods of co-ordinating device and fuseink in a.c. and d.c. circuits are explained. This includes a discussion on the effects of cyclic loading and forced cooling, and a Section on standards. Examples of the protection of rectifiers, thyristor convertors and inverters are described.
