Abstract
The precise characterization of the linewidth and the electrical mode pattern is presented, in this paper, for a stable erbium-doped fiber ring laser that uses two optical filters. The laser linewidth is measured using a Michelson interferometer, confirming its sharp narrowing as consequence of the mode suppression. The laser performance optimization is accomplished by the determination of the matched condition for simultaneous operation of the both optical filters. An estimate of the RIN due to the introduction of the laser in a communication system is also presented
