Abstract
In this paper, the statistics of the number and duration of fades-within specific duration ranges-on five slant path links in Brazil are presented and discussed. This duration scaling seeks to identify the contributions from dynamically different types of rain, such as convective and stratiform, which combine to form an overall cumulative distribution of rainfall. By identifying the range of influence of each rainfall regime it will be easier to build an accurate statistical model for the dynamics of attenuation
